Small town boy meets city girl. Love ensues.
Boy becomes a furniture maker. Girl becomes a bling slinger. They buy a big ol’ fixer upper rambling shambling house in the country. They make a home together. They set up shop. And then one day… they make something together out of wood and silver and it’s awesome. Aaron has run Blisscraft, a company that makes custom furniture, since 2009. Rachel has been the big cheese at Brazen Design, maker of nature-inspired sterling silver jewellery, since 2007. Blisscraft & Brazen, maker of awesome things.
Brazen Design Bling is brought to you by Ms Rachel Rachna Dhawan. A talented artist and designer based in the Laurentians in Quebec. Brazen makes high quality sterling silver jewellery that, according to Rachel, “will outlast you n’ your granddaughters and bring beauty into all of your lives… I hope you like. Actually, I hope you love.” Brazen Design launched in 2007, thanks in part to the Montreal Mayor’s Youth Entrepreneurship award, silversmithing classes at the Ecole De Joaillerie de Montreal, and a Bachelor in Fine Arts with a specialization in Fibres from Concordia University.
“I love working with my hands and I have always had an affinity for wood. It is a noble, living material with endless applications. Built properly, wood furniture can last forever, being passed on from generation to generation getting better with time. My interest in woodworking took hold when I was very young. At a basement workbench I can recall laboriously sawing scraps to size by hand and nailing together the pieces to make toy boats. I have been working as an independent furniture maker & designer creating custom furniture since 2007. My formal training took place at the Rosemont Technology Centre in Montreal. I’ve also spent time working in the industry learning from a variety of cabinetmakers in the region.” - Aaron Reaume
