Sunshine Frère is an intermedia artist based in Canada. She has an MA in Interactive Media from Goldsmiths (2007), and a BFA with a Minor concentration in electroacoustic studies from Concordia University (2005). Frère’s work has been exhibited and collected in Canada and abroad.
Frère’s artistic practice is cross-disciplinary and interactive. She has a longstanding obsession with systems and variables; this has lead her to develop a body of work that explores giving, objectification, personification, quantum theory, altered realities, humour and parametric methodologies.
Frère is currently the associate director of Winsor Gallery and the co-programming chair on the board of the Contemporary Art Society of Vancouver. Frere has collaborated on and participated in multiple large scale art exhibitions. She is the founder of Papergirl Calgary (2012). She is also a writer and curator.
